Your Journey to Aurigeno
The hostel Baracca Backpacker
is located in the Canton of Ticino in the Italian part of Switzerland. Ticino extends south of the Gotthard pass to the Italian border. Visitors can expect a mild climate, palm trees and Dolce Vita in a beautiful area with an Italian flair. Our hostel is situated in the Maggia Valley about 13 km from Locarno and Ascona.

Flying into Milan for your Switzerland adventure?
Easy Arrival by Bus from Locarno
Take the train to Locarno. Right at the train station, board bus 315 (toward Cavergno). After just a 20-minute ride through the valley, get off at the Aurigeno/Moghegno stop. From there, it’s only about a 15- to 20-minute walk to us. Once you’re there, you can ride for free thanks to the Ticino Ticket!
Cross the main street and the highway bridge, then turn left toward Aurigeno. Cross the small bridge on your left, then continue along the road, walking straight through the center of the village. Walking time to the hostel: about 15–20 minutes. You’ll find us above the church in Aurigeno.
From the highway no. 2 (dir. Germany or Italy), take exit: Bellinzona sud (Locarno/Lago Maggiore), drive through Locarno (tunnel), take exit Vallemaggia/Centovalli and drive into the valley. After approx. 15 min. turn left to Aurigeno/Moghegno and follow the signpost 'Backpacker', the hostel is above the church of Aurigeno.
