Hiking:

The Maggia Valley is a paradise for hikers. Over 700km. of hiking trails criss-cross the valley. From easy strolls to challenging alpine hikes lasting several days, such as the Via Alta. Countless mountain huts, some of which are serviced, await active hikers. 48 mountain lakes, peaks around 3000m, ice-cold, crystal-clear streams and almost impenetrable, lonely mountain forests are waiting to be discovered. Far away from the crowded tourist trails, you can hike in an area with over a thousand years of history. An unforgettable adventure for sure!

Climbing:

For climbing, Ponte Brolla (approx. 10 min. drive from Baracca Backpacker) is one of the largest 'plaisir' climbing areas in Switzerland. With a well-secured system of over a hundred pitches. With easy levels of difficulty and perfectly secured with bolts, these routes are also suitable for inexperienced climbers and children.
For experienced climbers, there are of course also more challenging routes to conquer, such as the 'Alhambra' in Avegno, which has become a classic and is almost 20 pitches long, requiring a good deal of speed and stamina. After a strenuous tour, the crystal-clear river awaits you for a well-earned cool-down, then round off the evening in a cool grotto with a glass of Ticino Merlot - what could be better?
Canyoning:

What was once an insider tip has become one of the most popular destinations in Switzerland. Canyoning in Ticino! Stones polished by water and emerald-green water make the southern canton a first-class Eldorado. Various tours are also offered in the Maggia Valley.
Bunny jumping:

There are two different bungy jumps in Ticino, both within easy reach of our hostel.
The approx. 70m. deep bridge jump in Intagna (Centovalli) is also suitable for beginners. Five different types of jump are offered: Head jump straight ahead, jump in pairs, backwards, somersault and Ultimo (feet first, the jump is held with the hands)
007 Goldeneye jump from the Verzasca dam (220m.) The ultimate jump for adrenaline junkies! Probably the most famous bungy jump in the world... Four types are offered: head first, backwards, night jump and ultimo (feet first, the jump is held with the hands).
Other activities are particularly suitable in the Maggia Valley:
-With visibility of over 10m, the Maggia is ideal for diving and snorkeling
-Tandem paragliding flights, parachuting, bouldering, golf and minigolf,
- Over a thousand years of history make the hearts of those interested in culture beat faster. In Cevio you can visit the museum, which brings you closer to the history of the Maggia Valley.
- Cycling and mountain biking: there are two mountain bike trails in the Maggia Valley. The valley has now been extended with a cycle path along the main road from Ponte Brolla to Someo.
- Architecture: The churches by Mario Botha in Mogno and on Monte Tamaro
